Chronic Pain

For those living with chronic foot or ankle pain, we offer a variety of targeted treatment options to help restore comfort and improve quality of life. Our approach begins with specialized diagnostic screening to identify the underlying cause of your pain. We may also incorporate diet and nutrition counseling to address any contributing systemic factors.

Depending on your condition, we offer both non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments, including custom orthotics, supportive padding and splints, anti-inflammatory medications, and diagnostic nerve block injections to pinpoint and manage nerve-related pain.

In certain cases, a neurostimulator may be recommended. This small, surgically implanted device provides pain relief by interrupting pain signals between the affected area and the brain. Since pain can fluctuate with movement or activity, the neurostimulator's settings can be adjusted using a handheld device, allowing for personalized relief throughout the day.

Some advantages to using a Neurostimulator:

  • Unlike other chronic pain treatments or surgeries, you can experience neurostimulation and see if it relieves your pain before committing to the long-term therapy
  • A screening trial serves as a temporary evaluation period. The screening trial is much like an injection, but instead of medication being placed into the epidural space, leads are positioned and connected to an external neurostimulator
  • Unlike oral medications that circulate throughout your entire body, spinal cord stimulation targets the precise area where you are feeling pain
  • Neurostimulators can be adjusted to address changes in pain as you switch positions throughout the day
  • A Neurostimulator may provide relief when other treatments – like medications or injections – have not
